Out of the Mouth of a 16 Month Old

Like all toddlers learning to talk, Annalise has said some pretty cute stuff recently.  Here are just a few things off the top of my head..
- Over Easter she had a stuffy nose and congestion.  Annalise is not a fan of having her nose cleaned but I came to find will sit fairly still if you tell her you will show her the boogers when you get them.  I know this is disgusting but sometimes, whatever works.......  So, as gross as this is, when I would get one out of her nose I would show it to her and say "EWWW! Booger!".  Most of the time she would say it too and laugh.  Well, now anytime Anna sees anything she thinks is remotely gross (which can be a fuzz on the floor or anything that she does not know what it is) she says "EWWWW!  Boogas!".
- At the grocery store she knows if we stop at the deli counter, she gets a piece of cheese.  Lately she has been saying "Piece (piece of cheese)...Peas (Please)?"  Yesterday she kept saying this over and over again so I told her "Yes, but we have to wait.  The lady will get it."  Being that Anna repeats much of what she hears she then repeated "Get it!" quite loudly.  It was amusing because it sounded so demanding but she didn't intend it to be she was just so excited for the cheese.
- Whenever someone else sneezes (or even coughs), or when she sneezes or coughs herself, she says "Bless You, Anna" and sometimes will follow it up with "You're Welcome".  She also will hand someone else something and say "Thank You You're Welcome" as one sentence. 
I know I have said this before about many of the stages she was in, but I love this age!

I think this is the first picture that Annalise has ever actually wanted me to take.  She definately is not a "Please take a picture I will stand here and smile for you" of me kind of kid.  She rarely will pose for more than 1 second so if you want a picture of her face you had better be quick!  Anyway, yesterday she saw the camara and and said "Cama...Chees....Peas?" (she also has been starting to connect words together recently) and then squatted down and smiled and actually stayed there until I took the picture.  What a rare a occurance that was!

Look!

"Hey, what's all the noise over there?"

She as watching the neighbor across the street on his lawn mower.  After I reminded her it was a mower (she has seen Stan on ours many times), each time he would make a lap around his house Annalise would stop what she was doing and do this.....

She would very emphatically point and yell "MOW! MOW!"

Balls and Bubbles

If the past few weeks are any indication I think the bulk of our picture taking for the next few months will be outside! Annalise was having fun with her ball and bubbles the other evening.

"Do you want to see one of my favorite outside toys?"

"My ball!"

Here she is trying to pop the bubbles.  There were only 1 or 2 left by the time I was able to put the bubbles down and grab the camara.

'Side! 'Side!

Even since the weather has gotten nicer, Annalise has been spending a lot of time 'side (outside).  Each nice afternoon I try to get her out for an hour or so and she loves it!  Her new favorite thing to do is pick the dandelions or "fowers" out of the yard and throw them in a bucket.  I tell her that she sure is helping Daddy with his annual battle with the dandelions!  Other things she loves to do outside are kick the ball around, play ball with Riley, ride in her wagon, look at the landscaping and yelling "Pity! Pity!" (pretty), coloring with chalk, touching the garden flag and pool, swinging, hiding behind anything and laughing while I pretend to look for her, chasing bubbles (if Riley doesn't get them first), dancing, spinning, and the list goes on and on.  This summer we need to get her some outdoor toys to play with because I plan on spending A TON of time outside with her!

Notice the graham cracker she has in her hand.  This was her second one because Riley ran up to her and snatched the first one!  Made the poor girl cry and everything =(.  Did I ever mention how much that dog drives me nuts.....just wondering....

I don't usually have the car parked in the driveway, but on this day I did and Anna thought it was fun to hide from me at both ends of it.

Easter Egg Hunt

Later in the afternoon on Easter we went to visit family in Easton. They had a little egg hunt for Annalise in their backyard. She was a little distracted by pretty much everything around her so the hunt took quite awhile to complete.

Annalise actually had her first outdoor injury on her egg hunt. She tripped and fell and scuffed up her knee. Here I am wiping the dirt off of her hands. She didn't mind the fall at all. I actually didn't even know that she had a brush burn on her knee until I went to change her diaper later and saw it.

Happy Easter!

Here are some pictures of Easter morning at our house. Please excuse the snot under her nose. She had quite the nasal drainage issue over the weekend =). When she first woke up that morning I asked her if the Easter Bunny came to which she replied a confident "Nope." I asked her if she wanted to see and she said again "Nope." As soon as she saw her basket though, she was excited. As you will see in the pictures she wanted everything opened almost as soon as she pulled it out of the basket. All she kept saying was "Open it! Peas, Peas!".

More Climbing

On the day before Easter, I had a dinner at my house. The only pictures I took were these of Annalise before everyone got there. We had to set up a small folding table and chairs in addition to our dining room table. Since Anna has been really into climbing lately (see previous post), she had a blast with the folding chairs.

Here she is quite proud of herself and is exclaiming "Chair! Chair!". Not only was she proud that she climbed the chair, but also at the fact that I was allowing her to have her feet on it. She knows that she is not allowed to stand/squat/have feet on the couch and chairs in the living room.

The chairs also made a nice musical instrument......

Dare Devil

Up to this point, Anna has not really been a "climber". She tried to climb up on some things at around 10 months or so but kind of stopped after that. She found it was much easier to have someone lift her or most recently "hup" (help) her get up on things. This past week though, she has seemed to be interested in climbing up on things by herself again (I have to admit, it was kind of nice having a child not climbing all over everything). On Friday morning I was vacuuming, which Annalise loves so she usually just follows me around, and I noticed that only after a few seconds she went into her bedroom. I figured she would be out quickly, after all I was using her beloved vacuum, but she wasn't. So I shut off the vacuum and went into her room to find this.

Yes, not only is she balancing herself on a plush cube with things to fall on all around her, but she also has the string to the blinds in her hand!!!! If that isn't enough, I made sure to run and grab the camera to take a picture to show Stan when he got home! Look out Mother-of-the-Year competitors, here I come!

Love This Girl!

Anna's new obsession lately is clothes. I wrote before how she loves to go through her drawers and put all the clothes on. Last night we ran to the mall quickly to look for some white sandals for her for Easter and as soon as we walked in a store she was exclaming "Kose! Kose!", which is how she says clothes. She also loves shoes equally as much lately. She got new sneakers last Friday and when we put them on her she holds out her foot and says "Ooohhh, pitty!" (pretty). Also at the mall last night, I tried on a pair of shoes on her. As soon as I got it on her, she looked down at them and her face lit up. With a big smile on her face she looked at me and said "OOOH, COOT!" (cute). While I don't want her to be materialistic, I do really hope that she continues to enjoy clothes and shoe shopping because I sure do!
